Well, I've done a bit since the last time I posted anywhere, spent some time hiding in the anonymous side of corporate america, and discovered that its just not for me. I'm sure some have heard of my short time spent with VMware, everyone's favorite recent IPO, and I bear the company no ill will, in fact they were a great employer, just not a good fit for me, as I discovered rapidly. Therefore I've signed on with Everex, specifically on the project that produced the gPC that just hit the world in a rather impressive launch here on the 1st.
In addition to this rather interesting $200 PC, we're also releasing a $60 development kit through ClubIT that consists of the motherboard and CPU used in the gPC. Admittedly this system is not the most powerful you can get at this point, but it is one of the lowest power-consuming systems available, especially at such a low price, and with its C7-D, you can rest assured that VIA has spent effort to offset the environmental costs incurred in manufacture.
We are looking for people to pick up these boards and do cool things with them, anything from working on the gOS to designing and building a really cool case or other project around the board. If you come up with something really interesting, its possible we could even market it, with your blessing and cooperation of course.
In the hope you are interested, the board is available here - ClubIT
Anyhow, all this aside, I am back and not likely to vanish again, though my blogging will probably be the usual off-again on-again affair, as its not something I'm really able to easily do often, it just doesn't come as naturally to me as some. I however *will* be spending time in the community again, hanging out on all the IRC channels I used to frequent and perhaps more, and doing my best to contribute where I can.
